Plant-Based Meal Service
In September 2018, we expanded our product range to include a plant-based meal prep service. A month later we won the award for best vegan meal prep delivery service in the annual Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge. In October 2019, we won the award for best vegan meal prep service in the annual Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge for a second time.
Much like the meals-in-jars, our fresh product lines are designed to minimize additives and emphasize fresh produce and minimally processed foods. We do not use commercial meat substitutes in any of our meals and restrict our use of soy as much as practical (Tamari sauce in Asian dishes, chocolate chips in bakery items, etc.). We can accommodate soy-free and/or gluten-free diets in most cases.
Mediterranean Diet Meal Service
In early 2019, realizing that a significant number of our meal prep service customers weren’t actually vegetarian, we added an option for customers to add a few servings of animal proteins to their meals every week. This was spun off in August 2019 into its own meal plan, loosely based on the Mediterranean diet, though still with a weekly changing menu of dishes drawn from world cuisine.
Much like the meals-in-jars, our fresh product lines are designed to minimize additives and emphasize fresh produce and minimally processed foods. The Mediterranean diet-inspired meal plan includes up to 5-6 servings of animal proteins per week (depending on number of meals ordered). These generally include fish/shellfish a few times per week, chicken, and, on rare occasions, lamb, as well as small amounts of eggs and dairy products. If a customer does not eat a certain animal protein due to dietary restrictions, they can default back to the plant-based meal plan for that particular protein. We can also accommodate soy-free and/or gluten-free diets in most cases.
The American Classics Plan
Beginning in October 2020, we were under contract with the City of Sacramento to cook special meals for Sacramento seniors, which are more closely modeled on a standard American diet.
We are now offering it to the general public as its own meal plan! “The American Classics Plan,” as the name suggests, encompasses familiar dishes that take into consideration the dietary guidelines of the California Department of Aging and are low in added sugar and added sodium. Menu selections and portion sizes are geared toward seniors, but you don’t have to be a senior to order and appreciate this plan. With this particular meal plan service, there is the option to add breakfast.
A La Carte Options
Not sure you want to order a week’s worth of food, or just want to test it out?
You can also order meals “a la carte,” by adding the items you’d like in the shopping cart. Delivery fees may apply for smaller a la carte orders.
